Picking Up the Family

Well on Friday, September 25th, I caught a 5:45am train to Sydney in order to arrive at our hotel and greet my Grandparents and my sister, Lindsay. It was extremely strange to see someone I knew from the motherland come walking into the lobby of the hotel, but it was also amazing! I gave them each a big hug and a kiss. It was kind of gross doing so though, I mean they hadn’t showered since Wednesday, September 23rd! Well anyways we first headed of to Patty’s Market and did some souvenir shopping. I did buy some new sunnies for myself, which I love, and got some things for people.

After Patty’s Market we headed toward the bay by going through Hyde Park. After Hyde Park I took them to the Botanical Gardens, where we meandered for quite some time. Grandma was fascinated by how many bats were up in the trees in the Garden. I kept telling her to keep moving so that they wouldn’t poop on her! From the gardens we walked along the bay till we reached the Sydney Opera House. It’s so funny this was my third time seeing the Opera House and I have already noticed that it doesn’t faze me anymore, but it fazed them, which was good! Lindsay told me that seeing the Opera House was what made it real to her that she was in Australia.

From the Opera House we went over towards the Rocks and sat down on a bench. Here Grandpa dozed off for a little bit of time while the rest of us just rested and took in the beautiful day. After Grandpa’s little nap we walked up by the Harbour Bridge some more and then toward Darling Harbour to get some Fish ‘n’ Chips and end the day. They fell asleep around 6pm that night and I followed shortly afterwards because I had pulled so many all nighters that week in the library!
