Sweet As...

Here is one of my favorite slang words that I have heard in Australia: Sweet As: (Translation) "I confirm that what you are proposing is good by me"

Well here I am, it’s my final day here in Newcastle. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone! It feels like I have really only been here for just over a month. Then again when I get back to thinking about sand boarding, skydiving, and even spring break feels so long ago!

I took all of my exams this past week and was able to hang out with several of my friends this weekend. It was sad though because I had to start say goodbye to so many of my now good friends. What makes it harder is knowing that I may never see some of them again. I have made some of the best friends I here during my time and my goal is to stay in contact with them. Tonight will be the hardest of all the goodbyes so far because I will be saying it to so many of my close friends here on campus.

I keep thinking that as I am packing up for home and Fiji that I will be coming back to Edward’s Hall just like I would be after any other or my times travelling here in Australia. Eventually it will hit me, but when will that be, as I am laying on a beach in Fiji, during my last 2 nights spent in Sydney, when I sit in the airport terminal to go home in Sydney on the 28th, the plane ride home, or will it ever fully hit? One thing I do know for sure is that if I ever make it back to Australia it won’t ever be the same as my first time. If I return to Newcastle it won’t be for school, the people would be different, and I would probably be here just on vacation.

Here are some pictures from my last few days here in Newcastle hanging out with my friends. I can’t wait to update you all on my 10 days in Fiji, 2 final nights in Sydney, and guess what 2 weeks from now I’ll be home! See you all soon!

So little to do, so much time!

Wow it’s November! CRAZY! INSANE! Especially since it feels like July! Well things have started to become slower paced here at Uni. This is week 13 the final week of classes and I only have one lecture left on Thursday. All my assessments are turned in and I am just waiting on the grades to come back. Monday the 9th of November. Then I take the next three consecutive finals starting on Wednesday and finish up on Friday the 13th!

Any who Saturday as I am sure you all know was October 31. Usually this day represents a day of falling golden, red, yellow, and orange leaves, cool breezes, the smell of freshly cut pumpkins, the costume box spread out across the floor, and the sense of excitement in the air for the night to come. However this was not what I found in Australia. Instead October 31st, brought a sunny day with the temperature in the lower 80s. Us girls got together and laid out by the pool to share some laughs and get some more color. We had all forgotten that it was Halloween early in the day so we decided that we should try to make it somewhat like a Halloween at home by having a scary movie night.

We decided the best way to have a girls’ scary movie night would be to order pizza, get some sodas, and lollies to create the Halloween mood. We had heaps of food, lots of lollies and chocolates, the packed dorm room location, and the only thing left was to pick out the movie. We finally decided on watching Paranormal Activity. I didn’t find the movie very scary, but what made me jump was other people screaming and jumping at the different “scary” parts of the movie. Overall though we had fun packing ourselves into a room and sharing good screams and laughs with each other. I wish I could have seen all of the cute trick-or-treaters back at home along with all of the falling leaves. It was good though to realize that the world is not as commercialized as the United States is in some aspects, but I will always love it nether less.

Well the last few days have been absolutely gorgeous! I have been able to lay out by the pool, get some more color, study some, talk to family and friends from home, and just relaxed. Jane and the rest of my swim mates would be happy to know that I have decided to hit up the pool and start swimming some laps. My goal is to start getting in swimming shape. I Ted’s sun bathing pool with definitely help me get there! Just kidding! It definitely helped cooling me off today since the temperature reached 102 degrees! To think that it is already this warm and it’s only still spring here down under! Well tomorrow is Wednesday and with it comes another day to just relax and do whatever I feel like since my last class is not till Thursday afternoon. Wish me luck in staying lazy and soaking up the sun!
